OUR MISSION
To empower, teach and support the youth of Haringey through Basketball
OUR STORY
Coaches Hesketh, Jonathan and Doreen have been involved in Haringey's community for the past 20 years, running grass root basketball sessions for young people.
This hands on experience, has allowed them to be fully aware and involved in the struggles which young people face.
With this understanding the three coaches established Haringey Basketball 4 All (B4A), with the goal of intentionally addressing issues and challenges young people of Haringey face today.

OUR MOTIVATION
Deprivation levels are high, particularly in the northeast of the borough – according to End Child Poverty, half of all children in Tottenham live in poverty. Haringey B4A provides free sessions during holidays, weekends and afterschool with no barriers to joining in.

The rate of knife crime with injury is the 3rd highest in London - the club offers a safe place for young people to play sport, make friends and hang out.

Number of people claiming jobless benefits in Tottenham is more than double the national average – Haringey B4A offers access to gain basketball qualifications and other resources that can lead to earning opportunities.

Haringey has the 3rd highest rate of households in Temporary Accommodation in London, and the population outnumbers the availability of housing (by approx. 12,000 residents) – having a safe place outside of the home can aid in improving mental health.
OUR GOAL
Our goal during the next 5 years is to scale up our organisation and become a leading youth service for disadvantaged young people in the East of the Haringey Borough.

This includes:
Listening to young people
Focusing on wellbeing
Investing in mental health support
Responding to trauma
Challenging criminalisation and youth violence
Tackling school exclusions
Providing pathways to training and employment.

Basketball is our hook, but we have so much more that we want to do to help young people from the community!
